Member's Gallery FAQ & Terms
more answers

The aim of the gallery

The aim of the user’s gallery is to enable ‘do crafts’ members to be able to upload and share their crafty projects with other members. To upload a project you need to be a member and logged in.

How do I upload a photo?

Click the 'Upload Your Image' link and follow the on-screen instructions. Your photo must be no larger than 1Mb or 1,000kb. The website will modify the dimensions of your project to suit the gallery requirements. Use only plain letters, no odds e.g. & and keep the number of characters in the your file name below 10.

Why is my project not showing?

The 'do crafts' team need to check all project photos and content before they are made live. Check that the photo you uploaded did not exceed the 1Mb requirment.

How do I get my photo to appear next to my project?

When you are logged in, click the 'My 'do crafts' link at the top of the fixed menu to the left of the website and click the 'My Craft Talk' tab. At the bottom of this page, there is a link for you to upload your photo. Follow the on-screen instructions. To edit or add to your profile, click the 'Edit my profile' tab in 'My 'do crafts'. We advise that you do not divulge any information that is confidential to you as this site is viewed by thousands of people.

Why do I have two projects the same?

Please check that the photos you have uploaded are all named differently. The software for the gallery is set up so that photo names can be duplicated when posted by different people e.g. Hannah uploads dog.jpg and so does Joanne. The site recognises the images are different as they are uploaded by two people and shows them accordingly. However, if the same person uploads two photos called e.g. dog.jpg for two different projects the web will not recognise the difference and will show the same image twice.

How many projects can I upload?

You can upload as many projects as you wish.

How do I find specific projects?

You can use the search boxes at the top of the page to define whether you want to look at e.g. birthday cards or scrapbook pages using e.g. more than 4 photos. By default, projects are displayed in order of date they were uploaded – hence the most recently uploaded project will be at the top of page one.

Craft Talk
more answers

How do I post a question on the Craft Talk board?

If you are already a registered member, you will need to make sure you are logged in before you try and post a message on the board. You know if you are logged in because it will say 'Good Morning etc [your name]' under the 'do crafts' logo at the top of the page. It's probably easier to log in when you first visit the website on our home page. Click on the 'My do crafts' link on the fixed left hand menu and select the log in option. When you are within Craft Talk select a forum you are interested in (eg. card making) and you will see the option 'Post New Topic'. Click on this and follow the on-screen instructions.

I can't seem to use craft talk as I have not had a confirmation email. Can you help?

Under the new system we require that members be confirmed. You must respond to a confirmation email, this is to help us prevent abusive users posting having given us bogus contact details. For all existing members before the switch over you have been set up as having responded to a confirmation email as you joined before we had this process. I would suggest you either check any junk folders you may have or log out, close your browser and log in again, this should clear any problem with Craft Talk ect.

Why do I keep getting logged out?

Due to the minority posting upsetting messsages on Craft Talk we have had to increase the security to help prevent this from happening. As a result of this, you need to enter the website via the home page (www.docrafts.co.uk), log in, then enter the craft talk pages. This ensures that you remain logged in and can post and answer messages during your session on Craft Talk.

Also for security reasons, the site runs 20 minute sessions - therefore, if you leave your pc unattended for more than 20 minutes, the site will log you out. You will therefore need to log in to continue using Craft Talk on your return.

Bookmarking Craft Talk Pages

If you wish to bookmark Craft Talk you need to visit www.docrafts.co.uk and log in - then bookmark the CRAFT TALK HOMEPAGE (this is the first page you come to when you click the craft talk tab at the top of the site). This will ensure, that when you click your bookmarked link, you will return to the site as a logged in user enabling you to use Craft Talk.

IF YOU BOOKMARK ANY OF THE OTHER CRAFT TALK PAGES, THE SITE WILL NOT RECOGNISE YOU WHEN YOU RETURN even if you were logged in when you bookmarked the page. You will then most probably experience difficulities posting and replying to messages.

If you already have already bookmarked a Craft Talk page and are experiencing difficulties, the best course of action is to delete your bookmark, visit www.docrafts.co.uk, log in, then bookmark the Craft Talk homepage.

How to I send a private e-mail to somone who's posted a question on the Craft Talk board?

Just click on 'click here to send private message to [their name]' which appears below their message. On the new screen type your message into the box and click on 'Send E-mail'. This will send the email to their inbox.

Can I delete my message?

Yes, click on the dustbin logo on your messages and it will be deleted.

How do I load up my photo?

Visit the 'My 'do crafts' section of the website (from the fixed left hand menu) and select 'My Craft Talk'. Click on the relevant upload you photo link and follow the on-screen instructions. Copyright

Can I sell cards I have made using your stamps ?

You can make as many cards for sale as you like using the Anita's / Papermania stamps. You DO NOT have permission to copy (replicate) an Anita's design onto another stamp for sale.

With Whispers (See D's) an individual can make up to 200 cards of the same design using the Whispers stamps. You must then change your design, maybe by repositioning the stamp images and colours.
Again, you MAY NOT copy the stamps to reproduce stamps for sale..

With Anita's outline stickers you may make cards and sell them, but you MAY NOT copy the designs and make other stickers and products as it is the designs that are under copyright.

Promoting/suggesting and using images subject to copyright...

It is our policy not to allow users to promote or suggest sources of images that are subject to copyright where the intent appears to be an infringement of copyright. Messages that do this will be removed and persistent offenders may be blocked.

Can we have a 'do crafts' event at our craft evening

We are only able to organise demonstrations at stores which subscribe to and supply a certain range of products. The only way to work around this would be if a recommended 'do crafts' store (as listed on the website under the 'stockists' link) was able to support your organisation and sponser the 'do crafts' event. You would need to contact your local stockist to ask if they would be prepared to do this, terms and conditions do apply.

No 'do crafts' event in your area

We only organise 'do crafts' demonstrations at store which sell a particular range of products. The demonstration are organised by the 'do crafts' team once a request from a store is received. If you have a stockist in your area you may want to let them know that there is a demand for demonstrations as they may not realise the interest. If they then get in contact with Rebecca Turnbul via the contact us form and we can discuss and organise a 'do crafts' demonstration for them!!

How do I become a 'do crafts' demonstrator?

To become a ‘do crafts’ demonstrator we do advice that you have a sound interest in crafts and also good people skills. We would ask that you to attend a 2 day training course here at Verwood in Dorset, will cover the products you would be demoing in the stores that are local to you If you would like further information on becoming a 'do crafts' designer please click on the 'contact us' on the next page (Click more answers at the top of this section).
